A touch of class and a straight-up good idea.
Devin Toner is a fine man. As a sportsperson, he’s touched greatness and done it again. From European Cups to Grand Slams, he’s made history with his native province and country.
And, somehow, it feels as though you haven’t even scratched the surface with the potential of this giant. He’s good with a round ball too, you know.

But with a 13-year Leinster career and eight-year Ireland stint under his belt, it’s fair to say that he’s racked up more than medals and respect along the way. He’s gained things a lot more important than that – jerseys.
Just image the collection he has accumulated of rugby gear and think up what he has done in those same kits.
- Champions Cup x 3
- Pro 14 x 3
- Six Nations x 3
And throw a Grand Slam and Triple Crown in there for the craic too.
Throughout a distinguished career, Toner has represented both crests with pure honesty and talent and a bucket load of sweat and, now, you can acquire all those sweaty tops he reached the summit with.
In a brilliant initiative, the forward packed up two sizeable suitcases and two bags worth of war-time memorabilia and he dropped it all into the local St. Vincent de Paul in Kildare.
If you’re about Main Street, Maynooth over the coming weeks, you might want to check out the new line the charity shop have on offer but – not that you’d need to be warned – most of the gear is XXL because Toner isn’t exactly tiny.

It’s a brilliant gesture from a brilliant player and one Vincent’s will reap great rewards from. Now, you can have a chance to own a bit of the history Devon Toner created.
