Munster supporters could do with some good news right now.
The province find themselves waist-deep in the foul stuff after a chastening Champions Cup loss against Leicester Tigers last Saturday.
The European failure followed fast on the heels of a rare home defeat, in the league, to Connacht and continued stories of a potential Simon Zebo move to France.
Last week, amid the loom, there was a bright spot in the form of standing club captain CJ Stander signing a contract extension.
On Tuesday, scrumhalf Conor Murray told reporters he was edging towards a similar extension, once the terms can be agreed.
Murray said, “This is a great club, a great set-up. It’s my home and there’s an unbelievable set-up here. It’s almost a no-brainer, I’d love to continue playing here.”
The 26-year-old says negotiations are ongoing but ‘on the backburner’ until the Champions Cup fixtures are fulfilled.
He added, “Maybe after Europe, we’ll look at finishing it off and getting it done so I don’t see too many problems with myself. I love playing here, I love playing in Ireland and I want to continue doing that so.”
Murray also stated his desire to be part of a Munster team that ‘does something’ in Europe.
Where Munster, and their pedigree, are concerned, that means winning the damned thing.
