327 games and out.
John Muldoon will forever be a Connacht legend.
The most capped player in his province’s history, the current captain, leader and legend John Muldoon played his final game of professional rugby in the Sports Grounds on Saturday afternoon.
It was a send off fitting of the Portumna man’s legendary career as the home side walloped Leinster 47-10 in the last game of the Pro 14 regular season.
Connacht were the hungrier side from the word go. Adeolokun dotted down early on to set the Connacht train in motion and it wasn’t long before Tiernan O’Halloran followed him over.
Spurred on by a partisan home crowd who were in full voice all throughout, Connacht were relentless, were tuned in and they had way too much for Leinster.
“Jesus, I thought I was in dream land when we won the Pro 12, but this… It was some performance by the lads,” he said on TG4 straight after the game.
That home crowd went buck mad in the closing stages of the game when Muldoon stepped up to boot a conversion from under the posts and over the bar in the final few minutes.
