British & Irish Lions to unveil new kit sponsor after multi-million euro deal

New, red dawn

It will take some getting used to, seeing the famous British & Irish Lions playing in a non adidas jersey.

Canterbury appear to have beaten out early favourites Under Armour in a deal to kit out the Lions on their 2017 tour to New Zealand.

Earlier this year, adidas confirmed that they were ending their 18-year association with the Lions – one that began on the successful tour to South Africa and concluded with the winning series against Australia.

News that Canterbury, who currently provide gear for Ireland, Leinster and England [among others], are in pole position comes from The Times journalist Alex Lowe.

Lowe broke the story about adidas severing ties with the touring side so may have an inside track.

The deal is expected to be officially confirmed in the coming days.

SportsJOE has contacted the British & Irish Lions for a comment. They replied that an official release, and photos, will be sent out at 11am.
