Injuries to both fighters didn’t stop them from putting on a hell of a show in the main event at UFC 189.

McGregor delivered on his promise of knocking out Chad Mendes in the wee hours of Sunday morning to provide a fitting end to one of the greatest UFC main cards ever.

The post-fight medical reports showed that Mendes had broken his thum during one of the earlier exchanges. According to Money’s manager Mike Roberts, Mendes’ doctor informed him of the break on Monday afternoon.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) suspended him for six months for the broken thumb after the fight, and he is expected to find out later this week whether surgery is required or not. McGregor was also given a 45-day medical suspension to allow the cut over his right eye to heal.

Check out the X-ray of Mendes’ broken thumb below.
