If you’re a Conor McGregor fan and you thought 2016 was unforgettable, you may have seen nothing yet.
Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is upping his fight-hype game by offering to fight McGregor in Dublin next year. Woodley, in fact, insists he is willing to fight McGregor any-time or any-place.
‘The Chosen One’ had a couple of run-ins with McGregor before the Dubliner claimed the lightweight belt at UFC 205. Following the event, Woodley warned McGregor off ever stepping up to 170lbs again.

He claimed Nate Diaz, who McGregor split two 170lb fights with, was not a true welterweight and warned that ‘The Notorious’ would be messing with ‘real gorillas’ if he jumped up divisions again.
Woodley looks set to grant Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson an immediate rematch early in 2017 but he has another bout on his mind that would top everything the UFC has done yet. Woodley, via his YouTube account, said:
“If McGregor and his coach John Kavanagh and everybody think that Conor can do well against me and they gas this dude up… you know, he’s a dope fighter but there’s levels to this.
“When you start going up, it’s like me going up to 205 [lbs] and challenging guys at that weight. When you come up to this weight brother, it’s real power, it’s real people that will put real hands on you, that’ll put you down to the canvas and you will not get up unless I let you up.
“So if you want to get in there with a lion and get your head bit off and have me spewing your blood all over the octagon while you’ve got that goofy tiger tattoo on your chest, looking like a clown with a clown on your chest, we can do it.
“We can do it in Ireland, Dublin, we can do it in the back of White Castle [fast food outlet], I don’t care.”
McGregor fighting in Croke Park has long reached saga status. Following UFC 205, Dana White told reporters: “We talk about Croke Park, we’ve been talking about that forever.”
Now we have a welterweight champion more than willing to touch down at Dublin Airport and test McGregor’s mettle.
Woodley is still smarting over McGregor calling him out on Twitter after a raucous UFC 205 press conference. He continued:
“But just know, I ain’t that guy. I don’t like to try and act overly hood or overly ghetto, a million hood stripes, but where I’m from you don’t call me a bitch, No.1. No.2, you don’t fake like you’re about that life.
“If you want to scrap, if you want to make this money, let’s do it. If you don’t, shut your mouth. Just do your thing.”

No place he would rather be.
Woodley’s ‘The Champ Life’ is definitely worth a watch:
