“This is what big Irish balls look like,” – Conor McGregor at the UFC 205 pre-fight press conference, referring to his mink coat.
All the talk is just about over, but by god did it live up to the hype.
And the fight hasn’t even happened yet!
Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez’s antics at Madison Square Garden on Thursday evening may very well have ensured that the promotion’s historic New York City debut is a PPV record smasher.
Alvarez played the role of the heel perfectly, talking smack about his opponent for being late then slagging off the Irish support as they tried to drown him out in a sea of boos. After a few minutes of taunting the crowd, the Underground king had seen enough and decided to exit stage left, but he foolishly (or conveniently… don-don-donnnn!) left his belt on the table.
When the Notorious finally arrived, donning a mink coat, which MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn reckons still had the price tag on it. he went straight for that “big-boy belt” and right on cue, Alvarez came back to reclaim it.
Then it all kicked off.

After getting the belt back, Alvarez riled the Notorious up by lightly throwing a folding chair in his direction. This caused the featherweight king to flip out, spring out of his own seat, pick up a folding chair and raise it in the air as if he was going to launch it towards the 155 lb champion.
Dana White was on him straight away trying to stop him from having another expensive press conference projectile-throwing incident while a heavy from backstage restrained the Dubliner.
Meanwhile, welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, who had been sitting beside Alvarez was filming the whole thing. He has since uploaded the footage he captured to his official Instagram account, and it doesn’t disappoint.
