The talent on display at Total Extreme Fighting 1 suggests that the future of Irish MMA is very bright.
The opening MMA fight of the promotion’s inaugural event in the National Stadium was a flyweight clash between Darren O’Brien of Sanda MMA Dundalk and No Fear MMA’s Dylan Kennedy.
The fight began with both fighters trading fast shots on the feet, then O’Brien took control of the centre and forced his opponent to the fence with some combinations.
Kennedy tried to shoot in for the takedown, which was stuffed by O’Brien who then forced his opponent back against the cage in the clinch while working the body with knees. O’Brien then landed a huge knee up top which caused Kennedy to go crashing down to the mat, where he followed him and landed heavy ground and pound until the referee intervened and awarded him the TKO victory in the first round.
