“I just could not give a bollocks.”
His ‘boss’ at the UFC Dana White may have nailed his colours firmly to the Donald Trump mast, but Conor McGregor was staying neutral in the run-up to the US Presidential Election.
As we are all too aware by now, Republican Donald Trump beat the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton to set up four years of adenoidal speeches, ‘winning so big’, bigotry and fear for Irish immigrants living in the United States.
We previously liked imagining how a debate between ‘The Notorious’ and ‘The Donald’ would have gone down, but it seems the Dubliner – who fights UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez in Madison Square Garden on Saturday night – had no preference for either presidential candidate.
Speaking to BT Sport in the run up to UFC 205, McGregor was asked for his thoughts on the election.
“I just could not give a bollocks, with all due respect, the whole thing is weird to me,” said McGregor. ” The public are just brainwashed into thinking something is going to happen with this one.
“I don’t think either of those two contenders, or whatever they are, have power in anything, anyway.”
