Who saw that coming?
Rising UFC lightweight Kevin Lee suffered a shock defeat on the UFC 194 preliminary card.
Lee was 11-1 and riding a four-fight win streak heading into his fight against Leonardo Santos, with some outlets making him a -650 favourite against the Brazilian.
However, his momentum was brought to a grinding halt as underdog Santos dropped him to the canvas with a firm right counter. Santos followed his opponent down to the mat and pummeled him until referee had seen enough and rewarded him the TKO victory in the first round.
Santos (15-3-1) remains unbeaten in the UFC, although he was lucky to secure a draw against Bushmills’ native Norman Parke in Brazil. The Northern Irishman had a point deducted for briefly grabbing his opponent’s shorts, while Santos got away with several illegal fence grabs during the fight without being penalised.
