“To keep him (Conor McGregor) in the main event, they needed to have him fighting for a title so that’s what happened.”
Those are the thoughts of UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo who disagrees with the promotion’s decision to create an interim title that eventually went the way of his Irish rival.
Aldo opened up at a press conference at Nova Uniao yesterday about UFC 189, admitting that he didn’t watch the main event between McGregor and Mendes and claiming that he would be willing to fight The Notorious on Irish soil.
And the lovely fellows over at MMAFighting recorded the Brazilian’s press conference in full which is well worth a watch for fans of McGregor, Aldo or the featherweight division in general.
Not only does Aldo play down the importance of McGregor’s interim strap but he also claims that things will be different if the UFC bring the pair on another world tour.
