If you thought Bellator were the kings of freakshow MMA bouts, you should check out KSW, Poland’s premier organisation.
The promotion put on their biggest show to date on Saturday night and serving as the co-main event of KSW 37 was a heavyweight clash between legendary world strongman champion Mariusz Pudzianowski and Polish rapper PaweÅ‚ Rak AKA ‘Popek Monster’.
Pudzianowski entered into this bout off the back of a two-fight skid to Peter Graham and Marcin Różalski. Prior to this, the Polish powerhouse had racked up four-straight wins inside the Octagon culminating in a ferocious first round knockout over Rolles Gracie Jr.
His opponent, the dude who made a name for himself in the hip-hop world came into the fight off a win, albeit that victory happened eight years ago. To say that he was a bit rusty would be an understatement, particularly when you consider he has only had three fights under his belt in comparison to Pudzianowski’s 15.
It looked like a squash match on paper and that’s exactly how it played out with Pudzianowski getting the job done very early. He hurt his opponent in the opening exchanges with his wild, raw, power-centric striking style. He then took away his equilibrium by cracking him with a heavy hook right behind his left ear. Rawk crumbled to the canvas and rolled onto his back to try to recover, but the five-time world’s strongest man was ready to pounce and punish. Pudzianowski grabbed his legs and began pummeling him with hammerfists until the referee had seen enough and awarded him the knockout victory just 62 seconds into the fight.
