Another fight, another late finish for featherweight prospect Brian Ortega.
It looked like Clay Guida was winning on points in the featured fight of UFC 199’s preliminary card.
The Carpenter appeared to be having the better of the stand-up exchanges in the opening two rounds, controlling the pace and putting heavy pressure on T-City. However, you can never count Ortega out before the final bell.
It all changed in the third though, with Ortega turning things up with the knowledge that he likely needed a finish to get the win. Ortega went in for the kill, swarming the crafty veteran and eventually putting him flat on his back with a vicious knee to the dome with 30 seconds left in the fight.
Guida was clearly dazed after the brutal strike and it appeared as though he didn’t realise the fight was over as he stood up and tried to walk back over towards Ortega to continue fighting.
