VINES: Bizarre finish as dislocated finger brings fantastic fight to an end

Tame end to a wild fight

After last week’s beyond-weird UFC, the MMA strangeness continued at tonight’s UFC Fight Night 58.

The main card of Machida v Dolloway got underway with a middleweight contest between Daniel Sarafian and Antonio dos Santos who put on an action-packed display in the first round.

The fight was brought to a premature end in the second though, when dos Santos seemed to dislocate his finger in an exchange of hooks.

The UFC debutant then backed up and asked for a moment to pop his finger into place but the referee adjudged him unable to continue and waved the fight off.

While we’re all for fighter safety, we also hate seeing fighters get screwed out of a fight and we’re pretty sure dos Santos was willing and able to continue.

After the fight, dos Santos was quoted as saying: “I didn’t know I was stopping the fight. I felt my finger popping out, put it back and tried to get back in the fight.”
