Joseph Duffy submitted a BJJ black-belt with 12 submission victories under his belt at UFC Glasgow.
The Donegal man earned his ninth submission victory over the Brazilian fighter in Glasgow, forcing the tap with a triangle choke 3.05 into the first round.
Duffy started the bout utilising his striking prowess to take control of the exchanges on the feet. Jorge engaged in a clinch and the two began to showcase some dirty boxing before they separated.
Jorge ate a knee from Duffy, prompting him to try to nullify the game on the feet by clinching again. The Batman then came in wildly and tried to secure a takedown. Duffy managed to work this to his advantage and lock in a triangle choke until he heard the sweet sound of palm tapping canvas.
The result sees Duffy’s professional record improve to 14-1 (2-0 UFC).
After the fight, Duffy admitted “I’d love to be on that Dublin card.” Here’s hoping he gets added to it soon.
