Erick Silva put on another flawless performance in the octagon tonight as he choked out Mike Rhodes in 1:15 of the first round.
The Brazilian secured his third finish in his last five fights with a sublime arm-triangle choke early on.
Silva sunk in the submission after Rhodes failed to grab a hopeful guillotine with any degree of confidence.
The Brazilian passed Rhodes’ guard before trapping the American’s arm and choking him unconscious before he could tap, so tight was his squeeze.
The submission pushes Silva’s record to 17-5-1NC and, despite losing twice in the last fourteen months (to Dong Hyun Kim and Matt Brown), he continues to put on quick, exciting displays in the UFC.
