Being more than a 3/1 underdog means nothing when you’ve got techniques like this in your arsenal.
Uriah Hall was never expected to beat Gegard Mousasi at UFC Japan as he faced the toughest task of his career to date on Saturday night.
The bout started exactly as many had predicted and the first round could well have been a 10-8 for Mousasi as Hall mounted almost no offence off his back after an early takedown from the Dutchman.
But the second round was as different as it was short as Hall came out looking to loosen up with his striking and, after 25 seconds, took to the air with a spinning back kick that landed flush on Mousasi’s temple.
Seeing that The Dreamcatcher’s legs were wobbled, Hall pounced with a crushing flying knee and finished the veteran with ground and pound to move his UFC record to 5-3.
It was nice and all but Hall has some way to go to match the best knockout in TUF history when he stole Adam Cella’s soul back in 2013.
