The biggest threat to Ronda Rousey’s belt has agreed on a date, location and weight class, according to Tito Ortiz.
So far no one has even come close to beating UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. The undefeated fighter has finished all 12 of her fights, with Miesha Tate being the only opponent to make it out of the first round at the second time of asking.
However, many feel that former Strikeforce featherweight champion, Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino could be the one to finally hand Rowdy a loss inside the Octagon.
Cyborg has a professional record of 13-1, and has won every bout in devastating fashion since losing her pro debut. She also has a No Contest on her record after testing positive for a banned substance after knocking out Hiroko Yamanaka in her last Strikeforce bout.
Since cleaning up her act she has gone on to rack up four consecutive TKO victories.
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz claimed that Cyborg was offered a fight with Rousey in a huge stadium event which is rumoured to be headlined by Conor McGregor vs Jose Aldo.
“I’ve heard from Cris [Justino] actually that the fight that’s supposed to be happening at the Cowboy’s arena… they offered the fight to Cris. I know her management said yes and I’ve told her, ‘Let’s do it.’
According to Ortiz, who is also Cyborg’s ex-manager, the fight is there for the taking and they are waiting for the champion to confirm it.
“So I guess the ball’s all in Ronda [Rousey]’s corner and Ronda wants to do it. Dana said if Cris came down to 135 they’ll make the fight happen, so let’s see if Ronda accepts the fight.”
While her next fight has not been made official yet, Rousey is expected to square off against Tate for the third time in her next trip to the Octagon. Surely after that, Cyborg will get her shot at the belt.
