It was always going to end with a bang.
Bookended by trips to Rio de Janeiro and Dubin, the UFC’s promotional world tour for UFC 189 came to an electrifying conclusion on the banks of the Liffey yesterday.
The day began with the pair of featherweight firework-producers meeting the media and discussing their upcoming fight on July 11 in Las Vegas.
But the cordiality soon went out the window as champion and challenger took to the stage in front of 3,000 fans in the evening’s event.
The Notorious almost forced fight night to come three months early when he snatched Aldo’s belt and proclaimed himself King of Dublin before the 145lb champion made a dash to get at the Irishman.
But UFC president Dana White was able to keep the rivals separated for the duration of the press conference.
The latest episode of UFC Embedded takes us behind the scenes though to the build-up and aftermath of a dramatic trip to Dublin.
McGregor struts around his home town and exclaims that Aldo “better watch himself over this part of the woods.”
