Jon Jones offered the UFC a solution to their injury woes last night.
At present, UFC 196 has no main event. Stipe Miocic looked set to challenge Fabricio Werdum after Cain Velasquez pulled out with an injury but now the heavyweight champion is crying off the event.
In the coming months, Jones is expected to challenge Daniel Cormier for the light heavyweight belt he was stripped of after a Driving Under the Influence police charge last year.
However, Jones may have been inspired by Conor McGregor’s pursuit of two UFC titles at one time.
Miocic versus Jones would certainly see the PPVs rocket.
Jones was at a meet-and-greet event for sports nutrition company GAT on Sunday and detailed his comeback plans.
He said, “Next up is Daniel Cormier – I’m getting my belt back – then Anthony Johnson and then maybe a move to heavyweight.”
Jones also raved about McGregor and the impact he has had on the promotion since his 2013 debut.
He commented, “Conor is incredible for the sport.
“I love his psychology. He is a fighter a lot of other people can learn from, including myself.”
