VIDEO: Joe Rogan outlines why Rafael dos Anjos may be too strong for Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor will touch down stateside any minute now as he gets ready for the latest fight in his UFC career.

The Dubliner tweeted a picture as he headed for Las Vegas with less than two weeks to go until he takes on Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196 for the lightweight belt. https://twitter.com/TheNotoriousMMA/status/701565509729439745 The Dubliner looks to have trained very hard while at SBG, but at least one UFC commentator is beginning to doubt if the featherweight champion can match his previous success when moving up to 155. https://twitter.com/TheNotoriousMMA/status/701637158310912000 Joe Rogan’s podcast discussed the Las Vegas fight this weekend, and the TV analyst feels that McGregor’s punching ability, though impressive, has never been truly tested at 155 in the UFC. Rogan admits that McGregor’s left is a deadly weapon, but fighting at heavier weightclass for the first time in an octagon is a totally new experience for the 27-year-old.

“He was knocking motherf**kers dead at 155 with one punch, all throughout England. I don’t know if he could do that in the UFC at 155. “You are right, dos Anjos is a beast but I believe the kind of power Conor has, he just has that undeniable power. “I just don’t know if he is going to be able to do it. Here’s a thing about dos Anjos, he is a gap closer. That motherf**ker closes gaps on you before you even realise he is on top of you. He did it to Donald and he did it to Pettis, two guys who are pretty skilful strikers. He closes that distance on you in a surprising way and his grappling is outstanding. And there is no hesitation in his game. And with that Nick Curson dude training him, he’s got 15 gas tanks. They’re all ready.”

McGregor has spoken about wanting to move up the weight classes if he beats dos Anjos on Saturday week, and Rogan feels that a fight with Robbie Lawler at welterweight will take place at UFC 200 if both men want it.
