60% of the time, it works every time.
Those may not be official figures on the effectiveness of spinning techniques in mixed martial arts but it seems about right.
But it worked like an absolute charm for Jake Collier on the prelims of UFC Fight Night 88 on Sunday night.
Collier earned his second victory under the UFC banner when he finished Brazilian middleweight Alberto Uda in the second round.
The card was relatively short of stoppages with only three knockouts/TKOs over the 12-fight event but Collier’s was something special.

The 27-year-old uncorked a barrage of spinning techniques on his opponent which had Uda second-guessing and third-guessing what Collier’s next strike would be.
The last one proved to be a spinning back kick to the body that forced the Brazilian to the mat in a crumpled mess of defeat and confusion.
