What a win

Holly Holm is the latest UFC champion, and boy does she appreciated.

After her stunning performance which saw her knock out Ronda Rousey inside two rounds, Holm gave an interview with light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier about her experiences on the night.

Holm paid tribute to her team at Jackson-Winklejohn for the hard work they put in behind the scenes to develop the perfect gameplan to usurp the Rousey’s 135 lb throne.

“Oh my gosh, I can’t explain. There’s so much hard work and all the time in the gym and so much belief and they’re belief in me makes me want to do it for them.”

“I can’t even explain how blessed I am and how fortunate that I have such a great team that believes in me. Just walking out there, it’s us anyway. We’re the ones doing it. I’m the one who has to fight and they’re the ones giving me the advice and that’s what it comes down to.”

She then spoke about the importance of fighting in the moment and how she emphasised giving her best performance on fight night rather than during the training camp through tearful eyes.

“It doesn’t matter what odds are on paper, what’s happened before, it matters what happens that moment. There’s a lot of times in practice, there’s times before and after the fight and when I get out there I just think the time’s right now. It can’t be an hour ago, it can’t tomorrow, it can’t be during practice, it has to be right now.”

Everyone needs to watch this incredibly touching interview with new UFC champ Holly Holm as the gravity of her KO win over Ronda Rousey sets it.
