Ronda Rousey is getting to the stage where she’s good enough to start holding her own against some of the best male fighters ever to step foot in the octagon, at least in terms of grappling.
The UFC women’s bantamweight champion is generally viewed to be on another level of all other female 135lbers and she showed that she’s even able to hang with some of the bigger men.
Rousey (10-0) took part in some Jiu-Jitsu sparring with former UFC welterweight and lightweight champion BJ Penn at the famous Art of Jiu-Jitsu academy in California and she largely dominates the contest.
After fighting for hand-position, Rousey attempts to pull guard on Penn before sweeping and winding up on top of the Hawaiian.
Not a whole lot happens from there as the undefeated Judoka attempts to work from Penn’s half-guard.
It’s not the most exciting of clips but it’s very interesting to note that she’s able to compete against a man who once fought Lyoto Machida at heavyweight.
