Check out this great behind the scenes footage of Conor McGregor working on his jiu-jitsu game with Gunnar Nelson in Iceland
The two biggest criticisms McGregor haters have of the Notorious is that a) he can’t wrestle and b) he has no ground game. Well, considering we haven’t seen either from the Dubliner inside the Octagon since he’s matured as a fighter, we at SportsJOE are not as quick to write off these aspects of his skillset. Funnily enough, you don’t get to showcase your grappling or jits game when you’re scoring ferocious first-round knockouts.
A new video has emerged of McGregor training with top UFC welterweight and arguably the best BJJ practitioner on the continent of Europe Gunnar Nelson. From the brief clips of the Notorious on the mat, he seems quite promising and a far cry from the striker with a weak ground game character that some of his critics have painted him as.

If you’re still unconvinced of McGregor’s abilities on the ground, then have a gander at this BJJ bout he had against Kywan Gracie back in 2012. He more than held his own against the Brazilian. Bear in mind that this was two years ago and McGregor 2.0 is likely to be a much more dangerous animal on the ground than the one you see in this clip.
