It’s on like Donkey Kong!
It’s official, Rafael dos Anjos is out with a foot injury and Nate Diaz will be stepping into fight Conor McGregor in a five-round 170 lb war at UFC 196.
So, the featherweight champion is being welcomed to the welterweight division by the number five-ranked lightweight. Does it make sense? No. Does anyone care? Hell no!
McGregor has yet to fight at 170 in the big leagues while Diaz has fought four times, scoring wins over Rory Markim and Marcus Davis before losing two consecutive fights to Dong Hyun Kim and Rory MacDonald respectively. However, McGregor has had a full camp in preparation for RDA while Diaz comes in at 12 days notice.
It seems that the Vegas bookmakers think that Diaz being a late addition coupled with McGregor’s dominance so far in the UFC means that he is the underdog for this bout, despite the fact that he has way more experience at that weight than the Notorious.
Not really surprising, but McGregor has opened up at a good favourite at -300, while an odds for a Diaz victory are +258.
