The path was set a matter of weeks ago.
Ronda Rousey was supposed to beat Holly Holm in the first round and Cyborg was set to compete at 140 lbs in her final Invicta fight.
The former famously didn’t happen thanks to a slicing kick to the neck and now the latter isn’t taking place either.
Last week, it was announced that Cris Cyborg Santos would take on Cindy Dandois at 140 lbs at Invicta FC 15 on Jan. 16 but those plans have changed.
After Invicta president Shannon Knapp made the announcement on TheMMAHour, Cyborg took to Twitter to correct her boss.

And now it’s been revealed that the Invicta featherweight champion wouldn’t be dropping to 140 lbs, which would have set up the eventual weight cut to 135 lbs to face Ronda Rousey, or even Holly Holm.
“Cyborg’s next fight will be at 145 pounds,” Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp announced on Inside MMA on Friday. “This will be the first time she has competed without hydrating herself with an IV so she’s made the decision to go ahead and defend her belt.”
That long-awaited trip to the octagon will have to wait as Cyborg sounds like she’ll be remaining at featherweight for some time yet.
