She may be the pound-for-pound most devastating female fighter in the UFC, but the promotion are still reluctant to introduce a featherweight division for Cyborg.
It’s a strange one. The big-wigs realise that the Brazilian knockout monster is a massive draw, a great talent and is pretty much guaranteed to put on a memorable fireworks display each time she sets foot inside the Octagon. Despite all this though, they’re really making it tough on Cristiane Justino.
Although she’s headlining UFC Fight Night 95 in Brazil against Lina Lansburg, the bout will not be at her preferred 145 lb weight class, but rather a 140 lb catchweight contest.

Cyborg has to cut to make 145 lb, meaning the cut is a lot tougher when the limit is reduced by five pounds. She just about managed to make weight for her promotional debut at UFC 198, but barely. According to her interview on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour, it’s pretty much the same story for her sophomore bout.
She revealed on the show that she still had 25 pounds to cut to make the 141-pound limit before tipping the scales on Friday morning. On Tuesday morning, MMA Hour host Ariel Helwani tweeted that she was still 19 pounds away from the mark, meaning she had 72 hours to get on weight.
