UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has not taken kindly to being called a bum by Conor McGregor

"I’m not Nate!"

Conor McGregor’s welterweight debut didn’t exactly go to plan.

‘The Notorious’ gets the chance to earn his first victory in the UFC’s 170 lbs division when he rematches Nate Diaz at UFC 202 on Saturday night.

While the welterweight bout will have an asterisk next to it due to the fact that neither fighter is ranked in that weight class, it is technically a 170 lbs fight.

Diaz had a brief spell in that division earlier in his career while McGregor has previously spoken about the possibility of claiming titles in three separate UFC weight classes which would involve belts at lightweight and welterweight to add to his 145 lbs crown.

The current champions at 155 lbs and 170 lbs, Eddie Alvarez and Tyron Woodley respectively, have recently been dismissed by the Irishman as “bums”.

And UFC welterweight champion Woodley has not taken the Dubliner’s comments in jest as he issued a warning to McGregor if he plans on sticking around at 170 lbs.

“This goes out to Conor… You need to watch your mouth bro,” Woodley said on his Morning Wood with Deez Nuts podcast. “Because I don’t do nothing but give you cred. I said something about how your hands look sharp, how you’re a tough fighter, you got a big mindset. Where I’m from you don’t call people bums.

“You’re fighting in my weight, and you’re not in my weight. You’re fighting a lightweight in welterweight, and you might want to watch that brother. Because, I don’t think you want them problems. I’m not Nate. I’m somebody that’s going to hit you, and you’re gonna wake up the next day thinking about retiring.”
