UFC left with huge decision after Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier result overturned

Jon Jones no longer has a win over Daniel Cormier at UFC 214.

On the night, Jon Jones had the light heavyweight strap wrapped around his waist and was announced as the new champion after knocking out Daniel Cormier. On Wednesday, the California State Athletic Commission confirmed that result had been overturned to a No Contest. The announcement was made one day after the B sample from Bones’ failed drug test came back confirming that he had a steroid Turinabol in his system on fight night. At the time of writing, Jones remains the promotion's 205 lb king. If he ends up getting stripped, it is unknown whether the belt would return to Cormier or if it would go vacant. Jones and his team have maintained innocence and the fighter will still have an opportunity to prove it during arbitration.

In 2016, Jones tested positive for two banned substances, Letrozol and clomiphene, and was pulled out of UC 200's headliner against Cormier three days before the event. He was suspended one year over the positive drug test.

Since he is now a repeat offender, Jones is staring down the barrel of a potential four-year ba by USADA.
