The biggest bout of Rachael Ostovich’s career may be in jeopardy after the UFC flyweight reportedly suffered serious injuries in an attack in her native Hawaii.
Ostovich is said to have been hospitalised following the attack which took place at the hands of “someone close to her” according to the report from TMZ Sports.
The 27-year-old is believed to have broken her orbital bone in the incident, putting her scheduled fight with Paige VanZant in jeopardy.
Earlier this month, Ostovich was booked in her most high-profile fight to date as both she and VanZant aimed to get back in the win column by agreeing to meet one another on the UFC’s first ESPN show on January 19.

Ostovich’s UFC record currently stands at 1-1, having been submitted by Montana De La Rosa via rear naked choke in July.
The Hawaiian flyweight got her UFC career off to the perfect start last year when she forced Karine Gevorgyan to tap out to an armbar in the first round.
We have yet to receive official word from either the UFC or Ostovich on whether she will be able to recover in time to share the Octagon with VanZant but if her injuries are as severe as the report claims, it seems unlikely that that particular fight will take place on January 19.
