UFC 229 off to the races with two devastating head kick finishes

Michael Corry

UFC 229 is here and if the first two fights are anything to go by then we are in for a wild night.

The UFC fight pass early prelims kicked off earlier this evening with a couple of barn burning fights, which really shows the quality that the biggest card of 2018 has to offer.

The first fight of the evening saw the welterweight scrap between Ryan LaFlare and Tony Martin. The bout went back and forth over the first two rounds, but Martin looked the more comfortable of the pair, and it showed when he dropped LaFlare with a devastating head kick before finishing him on the ground.

The second fight of the night saw two UFC veterans square off as Gray Maynard took on Nik Lentz in an intriguing lightweight contest.

Both fighters will be well known to fight fans considering the calibre of opponents they have faced in the passed. In another fight that was extremely difficult to pick, it was Lentz who dominated form start to finish, eventually finishing Maynard with another head kick.

BOOM! What about that for a finish!

If the first two fights of UFC 229 are anything to go by then we are in for a treat this night.
