UFC returns to Brazil on Saturday, and there’s some major local representation.
Cris Cyborg and Anderson Silva are both on the bill, which is headlined by Fabricio Werdum’s heavyweight title defence against Stipe Miocic.
And Miocic has laid down a marker to his opponent as he looks to show he belongs at the top of the game.
“It gets harder to do jiu-jitsu when you get punched in the face,” the American is quoted as saying by Fox Sports.
Werdum revealed in the latest UFC Countdown that he hopes to become “the best heavyweight ever in the UFC,” but Miocic finished his last fight against Andrei Arlovski inside one minute, extending his UFC record to 8-2 with five knockouts, and said “I want a shot at that title – it’s what I work for”.
That shot will come against Werdum, but he’ll be up against a vocal home ground in Atletico Paranaense’s Arena da Baixada.
