Still no official word from UFC brass but the March 5 event is coming to a boil.
‘Filthy’ Tom Lawlor is the latest fighter set for UFC 197 following his claim that he will fight Corey Anderson at the event.
Lawlor told F4wonline.com that he would be taking on Corey Anderson at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in a light heavyweight encounter.
If his revelation proves correct, the 32-year-old would fill one of the undercard slots for what is shaping up to be a monumental event.
Holly Holm is reportedly in line to defend her women’s bantamweight belt against Miesha Tate while Conor McGregor and lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos are heavily linked to be the main event.
It was expected that an official promo for UFC 197 would be aired during the NFL Playoffs, last weekend, but none was forthcoming.
There are reports that McGregor and dos Anjos’ fight contract has yet to be inked with conflicting sources linking the stall to both camps holding out for more money.
While the headliners have yet to be confirmed, the Las Vegas Review Journal are reporting that the UFC have put a provisional hold on the Garden Arena for March 5. The paper also reports that tickets for the event should go on sale from January 20 so the clock is ticking.
As of now, here is the latest on American Ticketmaster…
… and the official UFC website.
