We don’t want to jump the gun but UFC 189 is starting to look like one of the events of 2015.
It’s no surprise considering that the card is the main attraction for UFC’s international fight week, something that the promotion pumps significant amounts of money and promotion into.
We already knew the main event and co-main event, both of which will see titles on the line as Robbie Lawler attempts to defend his 170lb title against the dangerous Rory MacDonald before our very own Conor McGregor attempts to take the first UFC belt back to Ireland when he takes on featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo.
But this week saw three new additions to the card!
Irish fans will be delighted to learn that McGregor’s teammate and fellow student of John Kavanagh, Gunnar Nelson, is set to take on England’s John Hathaway who hasn’t won in the octagon since 2012.
As well as that, two top-notch featherweights are to battle for a place in the top five of the division when Dennis Bermudez meets UFC veteran Jeremy Stephens.
And in the latest bout to be booked for the event Brandon Thatch who is looking to rebound from his submission loss to Benson Henderson when he looks to add to the three-fight losing skid of John Howard.
