Another fighter has joined Jon Jones to become the latest star to withdraw from UFC 187.
One of the most highly anticipated lightweight bouts of the year has been scrapped from the cursed UFC 187 card.
On Tuesday, it was announced that pound-for-pound king Jon Jones was removed from the main event and stripped of his title after being arrested over a hit-and-run incident in which a pregnant woman broke her arm. Today it has been revealed that undefeated lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov (22-0) has also pulled out of UFC 187.
Khabib was due to face Donald Cerrone (27-6) in a lightweight title eliminator bout, but was forced to withdraw from the bout with an injury. The details of his injury have yet to be revealed although it is rumoured that his knee, which kept him out of facing Cerrone at UFC 178, is the source of the problem.
Former lightweight champion and perennially injured fighter Anthony Pettis was quick to voice his support for the Russian on Twitter.
@TeamKhabib karma is a bitch hope that disability pays well!!!

UFC officials are currently searching for a replacement opponent for Cerrone for the May 23 event in Las Vegas, and former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson was quick to throw his hat into the ring on social.
Just waiting on a response…… 😅
