First it was Ronda Rousey, then it was Paige VanZant… and now Sage Northcutt’s hype train has been firmly derailed.
The 19-year-old UFC wonderkid suffered his first pro defeat on Saturday night when he tapped out to an arm triangle – despite limiting Barberena from half guard.
There were plenty of shocked reactions among his fellow fighters, with Londoner and UFC bantamweight competitor Brad Pickett tweeting…
How do you tap from a arm triangle from half- guard 😳😂#hypetrain

Northcutt won’t be surprised to see there was little sympathy on social media…

But he’s only 19, and some fans tipped him to bounce right back…
I think in the long run this loss might be a blessing in disguise. Northcutt is still a teenager folks. Has a long UFC career ahead of him.

Yeah, Northcutt is green. I'm not even mad at him. He tapped to a choke from a position that someone in the UFC shouldn't tap to.

Despite Northcutt losing the dude is gonna be straight up dominant as he gets more experienced . Mark my words he will get a belt 🙌🏻
