We hear that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
But we reckon that it was a laugh, not flattery, that UFC light heavyweight Tom Lawlor was after on Friday.
Lawlor, who takes on Corey Anderson at UFC 196, had to get really creative to continue his streak of hilarious weigh-in appearances.
With the Reebok deal in place, ‘Filthy’ is now restricted in terms of his costume choices but he got inventive this weekend as he donned a peel-off replica of Conor McGregor’s iconic chest tattoo.
Got to love @FilthyTomLawlor! 😂 Anderson vs. Lawlor tomorrow night at #UFC196 https://t.co/0XMSfKDUBG

Lawlor got a huge laugh from everyone in the arena as he revealed the fake ink before taking to the scales.
He then squatted down on his haunches, à la McGregor, when he squared off with Anderson.
It’s not exactly a surprise to see him attempt something like this as he revealed that he had asked to wear McGregor’s Reebok fight kit to the stage ahead of last July’s FOX card.
“My plan was to be Conor McGregor at the weigh-ins,” Lawlor told Ariel Helwani on an episode of The MMA Hour last summer.
“I had asked if I could wear the Conor McGregor fight kit. They give you the Reebok stuff and they said ‘do you have any questions?’ and I said ‘yes, I have a question… Can I wear Conor McGregor’s fight kit?”
Well he wasn’t Conor McGregor that night but he more than made up for it this weekend. Hats off!
