Conor McGregor was as much as a 1/5 favourite over Nate Diaz on March 5.
‘The Notorious’ was famously upset by Diaz in the main event of UFC 196, tapping out to a second round rear naked choke after winning the first on the feet.
Not many were expecting a Diaz win due to the fact that the Stockton fighter had agreed to step in for the injured Rafael dos Anjos on just 11 days’ notice.
But win he did, and his supporters made a pretty penny on the 3/1 underdog.
One such backer was MMA legend and former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz who has claimed that he won $10,000 on that fight.
It’s no surprise, then, that ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ is lumping on Diaz in the rematch at UFC 202 for which he is still underdog, albeit much less so.
“Actually Nate won me $10,000 in the last fight,” Ortiz said in an interview with MMACrazyTV.com. “He’ll win me another $20,000 hopefully in this next one.
“He’s going to whoop his ass. Diaz is no joke. People don’t understand those guys at all. Their life is fighting, that’s all they do.
“They work hard in cardio, they punch, their submissions are ridiculous. They don’t mind getting taken down. The Diaz brothers are for real.
“I’m a big Diaz fan. I like Nate and Nick so I like to see them doing the Stockton Slap on to people.”
