He wants to shed that ‘interim’ tag as soon as possible.
Conor McGregor’s post-UFC 189 celebrations looked to have wrapped up already. The Notorious is back to business.
McGregor claimed the UFC interim featherweight belt, by defeating Chad Mendes, in Las Vegas, on July 11.
In post-fight interviews, the Irishman declared, ‘I’m just gonna enjoy this belt for now, toast my whiskey, toast good business and celebrate with my people.’
He showed up at two celebratory events, in Vegas, over the next 24 hours but did not have too much time to cut loose.
One week on from UFC 189 and McGregor met up with Dana White and Urijah Faber to assess potential contestants for the latest installment of The Ultimate Fighter [he is coaching Team Europe].
Last Friday, July 24, McGregor was at Zuffa headquarters, in Vegas, to meet with White and Lorenzo Fertitta and discuss his upcoming bout with Jose Aldo.
The leading candidates for the UFC featherweight title unification bout, against Jose Aldo, are Texas [December 5] and Vegas [January 2].
No date has been confirmed, yet, but McGregor is already back in the gym. This morning he posted this picture [below]. Looks to be an intense work-out.
