This was a close call.
Towards the end of the first round of last night’s fight between Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire and Daniel Weichel at Bellator 138, it looked like there could only be one winner. Pitbull was being absolutely pummeled and just when it seemed that the fight would end… the bell rang for the end of the round.
Weichel tried to press home his advantage in round 2, but Freire obliterated him with this epic knockout to retain his featherweight title.
Not to get too breathless about it, but what Pitbull Freire just did is the sort of thing champions do. #Bellator138

Patricio Freire saved by the bell big time in R1 against Daniel Weichel! Smoked by a straight right, out on his feet when bell sounded.

Aren’t you glad you were able to reach the end of this piece without a single reference to the ‘saved by the bell’ cliche?
