Gambler who won €225,000 on Holly Holm set to make biggest bet in UFC history

This is ballsy!

Ben Kenyon

There’s ballsy and then there’s this guy.

Professional gambler David Oancea is used to making big bets – it’s how he makes his living.

The American chap cleaned out a major bookmaker for €225,000 ($240,000) by slapping €18,800 ($20,000) on an 11/1 bet that Holly Holm would beat undefeated UFC champ Ronda Rousey. We all know what happened next.

This was in the same month that he landed a monstrous €2.35m ($2.5m) betting on the Kansas City Royals to win the World Series.

He’s a serious punter.

So serious that he’s about to lay the biggest bet in UFC history…on a fight that hasn’t even been announced yet.

He told Sporting News that he was going to put $100,000 on UFC bantamweight Miesha Tate to win her next outing.

“I just did a live broadcast from Mandalay Bay with Miesha Tate and we discussed that I’m going to support her.

“I’m going to be one of her sponsors and I’m going to make the biggest bet in MMA history on Miesha Tate’s next fight. I’m going to bet $100,000 on her.

“Whoever she fights next even if it’s against Holly, I’m betting $100,000 on her. I’m going to sponsor her and support her for her next fight.”

Solid. Iron. Balls.
