Donald Cerrone is understandably down in the dumps.
Not only is ‘Cowboy’ missing out on the potential win money that would accompany a victory over Kelvin Gastelum but he has also been denied the chance at competing at the second momentous event of 2016.
Cerrone did not fight at UFC 200 in the summer and now he will play no part of UFC 205 after opponent Gastelum failed to make weight for the welterweight bout.
“This is one that I’ve wanted for a long time,” Cerrone said earlier this week. “You always see great fights and tales of the Garden and once the UFC was in the mix, talking about legalising MMA in New York, I’d always wanted to be on it. So when it finally came true at the beginning of the year I started calling for New York, New York, New York. Here we are and I got it!”

‘Cowboy’ was visibly heartbroken as he briefly spoke to the media after being made aware that the fight had been scrapped and that he was off the card due to the latest in a series of weigh-in errors from Gastelum.
Cerrone, who will receive his show money for Saturday night, was presented with the question about when he’d like to take to the Octagon next.
He singled out Demian Maia as his preferred opponent but he didn’t exactly welcome the query on whether or not he’d like to fight next week at UFC Belfast.
“Nah, fuck you Irish motherfuckers,” Cerrone laughed.
