Anyone who saw the bloodstained mat by the time Conor McGregor and Chad Mendes took to the octagon could tell that a battle or two had preceded the main event.
And there is quite the list of medical suspensions following UFC 189 with fighters like Mendes and Rory MacDonald facing six month layoffs.
Mendes reportedly broke his thumb early on in his interim featherweight title clash with McGregor that he lost via second round TKO while MacDonald is said to have badly broken his nose and foot as he failed to capture the welterweight title from Robbie Lawler in the co-main event.
The full list of medical suspensions handed out by the Nevada State Athletic Commission is as follows.
Conor McGregor suspended for 45 days for right eyebrow cut.
Chad Mendes suspended for 185 days unless injured right thumb is cleared by doctor, faces minimum 24-day suspension.
Rory MacDonald suspended for 185 days unless injured nose and foot are cleared by doctor, faces minimum 62-day suspension.
Robbie Lawler suspended for 47 days for lip laceration.
Jeremy Stephens suspended for 185 days pending results of a CT scan to rule out orbital fracture, faces minimum 47-day suspension.
Dennis Bermudez suspended for 58 days for sinus injury and lip laceration.
Brandon Thatch suspended for 62 days
Thomas Almeida suspended for 185 days unless broken nose is cleared by doctor, faces minimum 47-day suspension for lacerations.
Brad Pickett suspended 47 days.
Tim Means suspended for 185 days unless finger injury is cleared by doctor, faces minimum 47-day suspension.
