Latest big-name UFC 205 prediction will only add fuel to Conor McGregor’s fire

"Doubt me now"

Patrick McCarry

“They all doubted me. Every one of yiz doubted me.”

Conor McGregor was one fired up fighter in the post-victory haze of UFC 202.

Just about every recognisable name in the fight business saw his rematch with Nate Diaz going to the Stockton native. The Notorious used those doubts to fuel his fire and drive him on to a unanimous decision win over Diaz.

As he hobbled through the backstage area, he reeled off the ‘Doubt me NOW’ mantra that he followed up on in his chats with the press.

The king was back and he was letting his subjects know all about it.

An overnight prediction for McGregor’s UFC 205 lightweight title fight with Eddie Alvarez should only steel him more.

Former UFC Heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos was asked for his take on the November 5 bout at Madison Square Garden and sided with the lightweight champion. Dos Santos said:

“It’s going to be hard for McGregor to beat Alvarez. His last fight was against Nate Diaz at welterweight but it showed a lot of [what he can do].

“I think Alvarez will win this fight. I have nothing against McGregor – he is an excellent fighter; really good.

“Alvarez, man, he just beat Rafael Dos Anjos and he was the best of that division. McGregor doesn’t have any history of fights at that division [in the UFC] so there is no sense for him to be fighting for the title… he should have tested himself [at 155 lbs] before fighting for the title but let’s see. It will be an interesting fight.”

Doubt me now.
