We love Bill Burr’s comedy. We love Conor McGregor’s fight style. So we don’t know where we bloody stand now.
A more Marmite fighter doesn’t exist in modern mixed martial arts as fighters, fans and funnymen seem to either love or hate Conor McGregor.
One of the biggest stand-up comedians in the States, Bill Burr, has revealed that he falls into the latter category when it comes to The Notorious.
Burr, who you might recognise from his role as Patrick Kuby on Breaking Bad, spoke about the interim UFC featherweight title bout between McGregor and Chad Mendes on his podcast earlier this week.
“Now I don’t watch much UFC so I don’t even know their f***ing names,” Burr said. “I’m part Irish, and that guy’s skipping around like a f***ing leprechaun talking all that s**t. It just f*****g annoyed me.
“So now I’m rooting for Barney Rubble, the Latino Barney Rubble – that Mendes dude… So I’m watching this s**t and he’s talking all this s**t and he’s doing all that Roy Jones ‘I’m gonna humiliate you while I beat you’, which is of course making me root for the little fella.
“Even though that guy’s a pasty f**k with red hair just like me – he’s actually got a full head of hair the son of a b**ch. I wanna root for him, you know what I mean. Little f***ing red head solidarity. I wanna root for this guy but he’s such a c**t.”
Being a trash-talker himself, we’re sure that McGregor can take Burr’s comments with a pinch of salt.
