We’re sure that Dana White, the Fertittas and Co. had their fingernails bitten to millimetres as they feared losing another one of their most marketable faces to the drugs scandal engulfing the UFC.
But fear not UFC execs as Ronda Rousey, as well as her upcoming opponent Cat Zingano, have both PASSED random out-of-competition drug tests ahead of their UFC 184 meeting at the end of the month.
The UFC women’s bantamweight champion, and her challenger, were given urine tests last week but traces of any performance enhancing drugs were found in neither sample.
The results come as welcome news to the promotion who have seen a pair of high-profile fighters in Anderson Silva and Hector Lombard test positive for anabolic steroids while Jon Jones and Nick Diaz were found to have recreational drugs in their samples.
Just yesterday, the UFC announced that they are set to advocate for stricter testing and harsher penalties for guilty fighters.
But the women’s bantamweights need neither as their respective tests came back clean but the UFC women’s 135lb champ is all for the harsher measures.
“The more testing there is, the better it is, because that means the safer that the fighters will be,” Rousey said after the press conference.
