Ronda Rousey’s coach is incredibly delusional about her striking battle with Holly Holm

Come on now

Maybe Mama Rousey was right about her daughter’s coach.

Edmond Tarverdyan had the best view in the house as he watched his fighter Ronda Rousey get consistently outclassed by Holly Holm on the feet at UFC 193.

Holm landed over twice as many significant strikes and avoided over three times as many punches that were landed on her, before knocking Rousey out with a stunning head kick in round two.

Despite Holm clearly dominating Rousey in the striking department, Tarverdyan told ESPN that he didn’t think she got the better of Rousey on the feet.

“I wouldn’t say in the striking game she was getting the best of Ronda, you know, but I have to watch it again. But we know this was not a striking match; we know that Ronda is smart enough to take the fight where she is best at and today she did. Holly stopped an attempt on an armbar and stopped some of the takedowns. She did a good job.”

After waking up from the devastating knockout, Tarverdyan held a dazed Ronda as she came back to her senses on the canvas. He revealed what he discussed with the former champion in the moments directly after the fight.

“[Ronda] apologised to me and I told her that you are still the best and we’ll talk about what the plans are after she rests. Certainly the girl needs rest. It’s not easy to deal with everything she has been dealing with. She needs time to rest, and after she rests we’ll figure out what is best for her career.”
