There is some highly suspect stuff emerging from Edmond Tarverdyan’s bankruptcy claim.
The coach of UFC superstar Ronda Rousey filed for bankruptcy in Las Vegas on July 29, according to Bloody Elbow.
The MMA site are reporting that Tarverdyan listed his occupation status as “Not Employed” while earning “$0.00” in gross wages and receiving “$0.00” in net income from his gym despite the fact that he coaches the biggest star in MMA.
His spouse did not file for bankruptcy but her income was included in the form, but not disclosed. However, they confirmed that the Tarverdyan claims a net monthly family income of $-110.00.
Tarverdyan lists debts of over $700,000 including $136,925 owed to Bank of America, $117,714 to Barclays Bank Delaware, $194,252 to Citibank, $8,836 to Citibank Nk, $163,693 to Citibank South Dakota, $6,411 to Discover, $8,496 to Discover Bank, $11,953 to Glendale Memorial Hospital, $7,294 to HSBC Bank, $22,000 to HSBC Bank Nevada N.A., and $9,817 to Luis Samkow.

He also claims to have only $3,300 in assets, no recent personal income and to add to the weirdness Tarverdyan claims he can’t remember the last time he filed a tax return.
On August 28, Tarverdyan submitted a declaration stating, “For the taxable years 2013 and 2014 I wasn’t required to file income taxes and did not file income taxes for those years. In fact, I have not filed for several years now and cannot recall when was the last year I filed an income tax return.”
The bankruptcy trustee appointed to oversee the process have launched an investigation into Tarverdyan’s finances as a result of the unusual circumstances of his case. He’s particularly interested in Tarverdyan’s association with Glendale Fighting Club.

The trustee appears to be aware of his role as coach at the gym and is suspicious as to why no income from the business shows up on the documents. The trustee has requested to liquidate any property that is recovered as a result of any avoidance of transfers.
Tarverdyan’s scheduled to appear for a meeting with creditors on November 16 where he’ll have to answer questions from the trustee and any creditors who decide to attend while under oath. Interestingly enough, this falls two days after arguably Ronda Rousey’s most high-profile title defence against Holly Holm at UFC 193.
