Ronda Rousey could be out for the rest of the year

SportsJOE

Ronda Rousey might not feature at all in 2016.

The bantamweight legend has not been in the octagon since that historic loss to Holly Holm back in November and there are fears now she won’t be fighting until January.

After four first-round finishes in succession, Rousey lost for the first time in her mixed martial arts career when she went down in the second to Holm in Australia.

Miesha Tate will put the bantamweight title on the line at UFC 200 against Amanda Nunes but anyone hoping for Rousey to face-off with the winner can think again.

Speaking on ESPN’s Sports Center, UFC president Dana White broke the bad news about the American.

“Ronda Rousey, I don’t know. I’m hoping we’re going to get Ronda back this year,” he said.

“She actually just had surgery yesterday on her knee. Nothing serious, just get in there, scope it and clean it out a little bit. She feels great. Her spirits are great. She’s been training.”

It’s nothing serious, but the time frame seems to be.

“If she fights, I’m hoping she fights in December. If not, then she would probably fight at the New Years show at the beginning of the year,” White confirmed.
